Eamon works for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in British Columbia on Canada’s West coast. His job takes him to river systems and waterways all around Vancouver Island and throughout the various coastal Fjord’s at the Southern end of the Great Bear Rainforest. Eamon is a fascinating character who has spent a great deal of his life living and working in some of BC’s more remote locations. He fishes, hunt’s and forages food to feed his family and is mindful of his place in the world and his impact on his environment. His job takes him out to places where humans and bears rarely meet and due to the nature of his work, he is often monitoring the fish stocks in rivers where bears are fishing. I talked to him last year about how this sat with him and discovered he has huge respect and admiration for bears, the video here is a snippet from our conversation.
